Looking for cheap, well-supported DMX control? Check out the MyDMX buddy. For less than $100, you can have 256 channels (1/2 universe) of control. While it doesn't work with the upgrades, this is a great entry level piece of hardware to get your DMX lighting control started.

Chauvet DJ Xpress-512

Chauvet's Xpress-512 DMX software gives you a full universe of DMX control, and allows you to piggy back additional Xpress units for more universes. The interface is somewhat advanced for those looking for absolute control of their DMX lighting, but easy enough for the beginner to learn. It's also MIDI compatible for adding control hardware.
